I guess dreams do come true! As George Weah, the only African player to win footballer of the year just became the president of Liberia.
George Weah stood for the Congress for Democratic Change party, which saw him compete against 19 other candidates for the position, and this is the second time he has run for the supreme title, with his first coming in 2005.
On the field, Weah made a massive impact in France, when he signed for PSG in 1992, before being snapped up by the Italian giants, where he was famously dubbed the world’s best player.
Zambia legend Kalusha Bwalya, who has also been involved in politics, is in full support of Weah becoming Liberia’s leader, and backed him a few days ago to succeed.
